Announcement for launching the Beneficial Ownership Registry

Dear users,
Beneficial Ownership Registry is being launched.
The Registry is being established as a result of the intensive cooperation between the Central Registry and the Financial Intelligence Unit, supported by the Global Program me ‘Combating Illicit Financial Flows implemented by GIZ’. The establishment of the Beneficial Ownership Registry aims to ensure a high degree of transparency of the ownership structure of legal entities in the country and meet the international and EU standards for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.
The registration applies to the beneficial (ultimate owners) of all legal entities registered in the Registry.
“Beneficial owner” shall be natural person who ultimately owns or controls the client and/or the natural person in whose name and on whose behalf the transaction is being conducted. A beneficial owner shall be a natural person who exercises ultimate and effective control over a legal entity or foreign legal arrangement.
The authorized persons of a legal entity are the one responsible for the accuracy, adequacy an up-to-date of the data entered in the Registry. The registration will be possible to perform only electronically via the internet, whereby the submitters are being identified and the applications are signed electronically. Authorized persons may conduct the registration independently or authorize another person to submit an application on their behalf. 
In the Registry all legal entities are obliged to enter data about the beneficial owners, as well as any changes to the data in the ownership structure of the entities. The registration within the legal deadline is free of charge (within 8 days as of the registration of the entity and 8 days period for the entities with a change of ownership structures), which will result for existing entities to have 3 months to complete the registration since the establishment of the registry.
